Cosmebio and criteria
The Cosmébio association was created in 2002 at a time when there were no regulations governing natural and organic cosmetics and when abuses of organic claims were looming. Cosmébio was thus created in order to protect consumers from these abuses and is based on three key values: the majority of naturalness in the formula, respect for the environment and an important social commitment.
This label makes it possible to distinguish genuine natural and organic cosmetic products: they follow very demanding specifications as well as a charter of ethical values.
Thus, with this label our products are guaranteed organic, natural but not only! It also involves:
– Respect for the environment: manufacturing techniques that are harmful to the environment are excluded and the packaging is reasoned.
– Social commitments: living and working conditions are respected and solidarity and fair trade is implemented.
– Transparent and responsible communication: all the information that can enlighten the consumer about the product is present on the packaging (list of all the ingredients and percentages of natural and organic origin).
What are the product formulation criteria?
For a product to be cosmebio certified, it must:
- Contain at least 95% ingredients of natural origin on the total of the product (water and minerals are considered natural).
- Contain at least 95% organic ingredients on all the plants in the product.
- Contain at least 10% organic ingredients on the total product (water and minerals considered non-organic because they are not grown).
Currently, more than 12,000 products (hygiene products, care, organic make-up, etc.) have the cosmébio label and are committed to eco-responsible beauty.
Thus, by using cosmébio products, you are adopting a responsible gesture not only for the environment, for workers and for animals, but also for your skin, which will thank you for that!
